PS My favorite flower is in the background. A white peony with a kiss of red on a petal or two. They only bloom for a short period, & most people associate the color pink with peonies. But I like the simple, abstract of the white with a touch of red. 💖 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

𝐃𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Doing beneficial things while delaying doing more important things. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

𝐄𝐱𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞: I need to get more clients, so I will build a website. Instead of, I need more clients, so I will connect with people. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Building a website can be beneficial to growing your business long term, but not as important as connecting with people. Being productive for things down the road is good, but procrastinating on what you need right now has consequences. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As entrepreneurs productive procrastination can be sneaky to recognize. Here are a few examples you may have done not realized it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Most easily recognizable: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉 Doing the dishes ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉 Doing laundry ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👉 Cleaning the house ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

While the trickier ones are absolutely beneficial, they can be distractions from important priorities we need to focus on in the now. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Why do I share this, because I'm totally guilty of pretty much all of them. 🤦 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

My coach called me out on doing this quite some time ago, but it wasn't until I did yet another training 🤷😂 where the trainer talked about it that it truly set in. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So now I look at my day with a different set of eyes/priorities. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ Connect with to 3-5 people daily ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ Follow up with existing clients ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ Sprinkle in the other beneficial activities after the 1st two items are complete. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

✨ Date night with my kiddo [aka Dixon - my chihuahua rescue mix] ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ Cleanout under the staircase closet so my hubby can build a wine rack 🍷 [WooHoo!! Maybe I'll share a Story showing the growing chaos of wine all over the house this weekend.... Maybe 🤔🤫🙃] ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ Watch some movies [Probably a movie or 2 I've seen a million times. 😂 Yes I am that person.] ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Whatever you do choose, make sure it recharges you. In order to tackle next weeks work, we must refill our cup, or wine glass. 🍷😉 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I love this quote. So often people think that starting a business means they are guaranteed success, but that's not the case. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

What people don't realize is that first you need to define what success means to you. My definition of success may be totally different from your definition of success. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

No two paths are the same, & there will always be twists & turns that shift us around all of the construction. Just take a moment to think about how everyone's lives changed in 2020, & they're still shifting as we speak. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

If you haven't done so already, take the time to define what success means to you. That way when life puts up a 'Road Under Construction' you know how to maneuver your way around, or change direction if needed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Maybe you even have a combination of the above. [I know I do from time to time.🤦‍♀️]⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Here's some simple things to keep in mind when these little gremlins enter our heads because we fed them the wrong information, then let them get wet so they multiply. [Yes I just referenced the movie Gremlins.😜]⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ Analysis Paralysis comes from not having a plan of action. Write down 1-3 things that you want to accomplish BEFORE you start on a project/research. It helps keep you focused, especially when you start to get off track or go down the rabbit hole.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ Comparing Yourself to Others. Remind yourself that who you're comparing yourself to started somewhere & it probably wasn't pretty. But they started & kept refining to what you see today. We all to start somewhere, & we don't need to put the pressure of someone else's 'right now' on our beginning. Give yourself permission to start. Remember - Progress over perfection. [As an Enneagram 4 I have to remind myself this one often.] ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
✨ Imposter Syndrome. This one isn't much different from comparing yourself to others, but there's a couple of crucial components that make this one a bit sneakier. This comes from belief in yourself, your abilities & your 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝 expectations. When you get that promotion, start that new job/career or train for something, we often times forget we're in our learning/growth stage.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Be patient with yourself & be ok with not having all the answers, or always knowing what to do. All you need to do is Show Up. Be Present. You will find your way.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So remember to believe in yourself. You're on this path for a reason. You've totally got this! 👊💪💖
